Adorable Daffodils

I encountered many different types of Daffodils last weekend && it got me really excited for when my Daffs come to visit me again on the farm this spring!

I grow many different varieties on my farm but because Daffs are sold everywhere in the spring && many people have the common varieties blooming in their own yards I stick to growing unique varieties that are either large cupped or are very high in fragrance. My two most popular varietes are Frangrant Rose && Geranium.

Just remember to keep your Daffodils seperate from your Tulips! They do not get along...Sad trombone : (
This is due to the sap that leaks from the Daffs && Tulips don't like it.

Philly Flower Show = Bliss

The show was amazing. Philadelphia weather was awesome. It was a great time. The theme for the show this year was spring time in Paris. oh la la! As always there were fantastic arrangements everywhere I turned. The show was bursting with flowering trees && daffodils && tulips all over the place. Hydrangeas && rose bushes were everywhere. It was beautiful!

The only problem is...we have returned to Upstate New York where at first when I got home it was raining && now as I am looking out the window I can see it has begun to snow heavily. (sigh). The flower show got me all geared up for spring && I cant wait for my farm to wake up && start blooming all over the place! All the tulips I got to see today were a teaser for what will be happening on my farm soon.  : )

The show was huge && I filled two cameras trying to capture it all. So I will be doing a series of postings about the show.

Orchid Attack!!

It has been a very long and wonderful day. My best friend Dan && I woke up at 4am and made the 5 hour drive to Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania for the Orchid Extravaganza.

There were many different kinds of orchids all over the conservatories, so I was the luckiest girl at the show to have my very own walking orchid encyclapedia. ( Dan loves growing rare orchids like I love growing cut flowers. )

my favorite!

The conservatory structures themselves are quite beautiful. They were built in 1920 && I think they still look damn good!

It was so much fun. We went through the 18 roomed conservatory many times.

I'm in my big comfy Marriott bed as I write this && I can hardly wait for morning to come. I look forward to the Philadelphia International Flower Show every year && I will finally be there once again tomorrow!

These boots were made for harvesting!

I have been practicing shooting with my new S5100 Fuji camera in preparation for the flower shows I am going to this weekend && some of the shots I thought were pretty cool.

I love my new wellies!!! I will be stylin it up this spring while I'm working away in the field.  : )

Some new patches I got to add to my jacket && that is my purple sparkly hoop that matches my purple hair.

My friend gave me these pictures a few years ago because she said flowers were always on my mind.

On a farm note - My seedling babies are sprouting away and soon my seedling house will be full. There are so many farm chores that need to get done for spring I don't even know where to start!
