Flowers in the home Monday

Flowers in the dorm. : )

Zinnias && Sunflowers with a few cosmos from last summer. Since I find myself dreaming of it often on these dark snowy days.

A practice arrangement I found from my days of dorm life when I was taking Intro to Floral Design so long ago.

Filo-Fax Wannabee

I loved Gala Darling's adorable little Filo-Fax and I was inspired to create my own kind of personal planner that would work for my busy flower schedule. I like the idea of having a Filo-Fax but I needed something much bigger and a little more durable since it has to travel with me where ever I go. So I put together my very own Filo-Fax wannabee.

Its a bright pink 3-ring binder! It contains...

In the left pocket I have the most recent catalogs from the companies I frequently order from and colorful little page tabs. On the right I have filled the binder with tons of page covers which are divided up into sections.

I have a giant list that is a few pages long that has every single variety I will grow this year. I then have an inventory list of all the seeds I have and all the seeds I have ordered. I have a section that has a seed schedule for everything I grow made with Excel. Using my past records and calenders and a LOT of week counting I created a weekly seeding/transplanting schedule and divided the months with tabs. Giving me a sort of estimated guide of what needs to be done when to keep up with my demands. Im sure there will be scribbles all over it by the end of the year!

I have a monthly calender book.

I use this to write in reminders about order dates, delivery dates, market dates, ect...
It is already filled with sticky notes : )

I have sections for recent recipts && growing information that comes with seeds I odered.

There is also my 2011 growing season journal inside.

This year I have added a special section...

When I was flipping through notes of past seasons I noticed there were quite a few sentences that started with "Next season I will..." So I thought it would be awesome to have a dedicated section for these statements.

&& of course I have included my favorite sharpie!!!

When things start getting super crazy around the farm there is no way I can remember everything so I have to have some kind of guide to get my through the growing season. Having everything in a centralized place this year will make things easier.

The seeding has begun && its hard to believe since its nonstop snow here this week. February came && went and soon its on to one of my favorite months...March!! : )

Seed Arrival!

My Seeds have begun showing up in the mail this week and there are many more to come. Including all my glad bulbs, which should be here any day! Its waking me up and making me realize that its that time of year again. That time where I have no free moments in the day and my life revolves around the lists I write for myself every morning in order to get everything done. Game time is coming!

My seeds from England finally made it. I loved the stamps and I love how they wrote my name. "Miss G" should definitely be my crazy flower lady alter-ego name! Things around the farm are beginning to move at a faster pace as the snow melts away. The winter break has been lovely but I have missed the farmers markets and the sun on my face as I work in the field. It will be nice to get back to doing what I know and am so passionate about.

One of my very first bouquets I ever made! So long ago!

Valentines Chocolate Strawberry cake I made for my best girlfriend! <3

Bath time fun!

My Adirondacks

I love my adirondacks and this is the time of year when I start longing for the amazing summer time view from the peaks. I have climbed those mountains when I was happy, when I was in love, when I was escaping, when I was searching for an answer and especially when I was trying to reconnect. This photo was taken by Lauren Mousseau (awesome photographer) last fall at the top of Sleeping Beauty.

At the top of Buck Mountain last spring

All the melting snow makes for some amazing water pics

I have grown deep roots in these moutains and I dont think I am going anywhere for a very long time. Those peaks keep me in place. Everytime I become to involved in my day to day life I take to the mountain tops to be reminded just how small I am compared to the big Adirondack sky and the stress slips away. The Adirondack region I live in makes me happy and cut flowers make me happy so of course I had to name my farm after my favorite mountains in the world!

This is a crazy winter! It seems like we are having snow storms twice a week. It's stressful for me because I have to go dig out the hightunnels everytime but good for my boyfriend with a booming snow removal business. So if your snowed in like me here is some nifty stuff to check out.

Here are some amazing places I will be going this year in February March March Again MayJuly &&   November! Yayyyy Flowers!

I dream about buying one of these  all the time.

This is my awesome friend's blog. He is obsessed with orchids like I'm consumed by cut flowers.

I finally settled on this  homeschool system for the boys since I have heard such good things.

These are big effing greenhouses!!

This lovely lady is one of my biggest inspirations ever. I check her blog everyday to see what awesome new stuff she has going on.

My cabin to be. All it needs is a wrap around porch with a sunroom & a basement where I can put a farm kitchen && a school room for the boys. Its going to be nestled right at the top of a hill over looking the flower fields below. It will be so beautiful with the panoramic moutain view!

I am going with this designer  for my website. He did wonderful work for my dad's farm site.

I want to be as organized and adorable as her!

Hoop Dance is sexy!!! I will be as good as them some day. : )

This dress would be a good addition to my market day wardrobe. The cuter I look the more I sell...true story!!

I am totally going to build one of these somewhere on the farm.

I cant wait to harvest these yummies  this summer. Sooooooooo goood.

I am in love! I can't wait to get my hands on some of them for the farm.

I am definitely getting this book this weekend for some style inspiration.

I know this is a long list but it was a very very long dreary snowday. Keep warm && spring will be here before we know it!   ; ) yayyyy!
